Dolphins vs. Bengals Preview, Tips & Odds

The Miami Dolphins are traveling to Ohio to take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday and it is a test of two teams that have been over-performing expectations up to this point in the season. The Dolphins sit at 3-1 with wins over the Titans, Jets, and Raiders, while their loss came to the Patriots last week.

The Bengals are 3-1 as well with wins over the Falcons, Ravens, and Colts. The Bengals lone loss came against the Panthers two weeks ago. This is sure to be a big game against two AFC teams that don’t get to play each other all that often. Be on the lookout for some fireworks.

Going into this game, the Bengals are heavily favored. They are 6.5 point favorites at home which is a substantial amount for a team that is playing a 3-1 team. On the year, the Dolphins are 3-1 against the spread as are the Bengals. The over under for this one is 49.5 so we can expect see a lot of points scored in a very short amount of time.

Dolphins vs. Bengals Head to Head

In their history, the Dolphins and Bengals have met a total of 22 times with 21 of those coming in the regular season. In the last game these two played, the Bengals won 22-7 in Cincinnati. That game was back in 2016 and the last game that the Dolphins won was in 2013 which was a 22-20 victory at home. The one postseason game these two teams played was back in 1773 as the Dolphins won 34-16.

Dolphins vs. Bengals Stats

The Bengals offense has been much more productive this year than the Dolphins. The Bengals have gained 392 yards a game and the Dolphins only gain 306. Likewise, the Bengals score the ball at a much higher clip scoring 11 more points a game than the Dolphins. Despite the Dolphins being 3-1 they have been outscored this year by eight points. Defense is another story as both teams suffer a bit allowing over 400 yards a game on defense.

Dolphins vs. Bengals News

Last week, Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert was lost for the year after a gruesome ankle injury. That will be a big hit to the Bengals as he was one of quarterback Andy Dalton’s favorite targets. The Dolphins have some impactful players on the injury list as well since defensive end Cameron Wake, wide receiver DeVante Parker, and tight end AJ Derby are all listed as questionable as of Wednesday. Parker would be a big loss for the Dolphins in the passing game.

Dolphins vs. Bengals Predictions

I expect both teams to have good offensive games since both defenses are very lackluster. The Bengals will be playing at home and the Dolphins haven’t been very good on the road in the past few years. I expect Dalton to come out firing and the Dolphins to slow down in the second half. In this one, the quarterbacks are going to decide the game. Look for Dalton to be smooth at home and lead the Bengals to the victory and the cover as 6’5 favorites.
