Head coach Adam Gase and his 3-2 Miami Dolphins will be hosting the 3-1 Chicago Bears this Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium. Gase was the offensive coordinator for the Bears back in 2015 before getting hired for the head coach position with the Dolphins. As Miami battles for first place in the AFC East with the Patriots, new head coach Matt Nagy’s Bears squad is currently in first place in the NFC North.
Bears vs. Dolphins Odds
Chicago is the favorite in this matchup at -3.0. The Bears are 1-1 on the road this season and are coming off their bye week. The Dolphins have yet to lose a home game this season and look to turn things around after a 3-0 start. The game time weather is expected to be partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid 80’s.
Spread: Chicago -3.0
Total: 41.5
Bears vs. Dolphins Head to Head
The Dolphins lead the all-time series against the Bears 8-4. They took down the Bears in their last meeting back in 2014, 27-14. Miami was led by Ryan Tannehill who completed 25-of-32 pass attempts for 277 yards and a couple scores. The Dolphins last two games have been losses to the Patriots and Bengals, two of the hotter teams in the league. Enter yet another hot team as the Bears have been revamped offensively with the new onslaught of weapons and the defensive monster known as Khalil Mack. Mack has contributed a strip-sack each game for the Bears this season and might be able to do it again to a Dolphins offensive line that has dealt with some injuries.
Bears vs. Dolphins Stats
Chicago is the best team against the run so far this season, second in total yards allowed, and second in points averaged by opponents. The Monsters of the Midway seem to be back and they cause problems for opposing offenses. Entering Week 6 the Dolphins have the 22nd best rushing attack and have struggled in 3rd down percentage. The key players to focus on are Mitchell Trubisky and Ryan Tannehill. The two have very similar stat-lines for the season, Tannehill has passed for 972 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions, while Trubisky has thrown for 945 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions. Most of Trubisky’s stats came in Week 4 against the Buccaneers when he exploded for six touchdowns. If the Bears can get some offensive help they’re a difficult team to beat with Khalil Mack and company on defense.
Bears vs. Dolphins News
The Athletic’s Michael Lombardi reported that the Dolphins are shopping DeVante Parker. Parker has a lot of promise but has been an injury-riddled underachiever to this point in his career. So, it makes perfect sense for the Dolphins to see what they can get while they now have a good amount of receiver depth. The Bears had easily their best offensive performance of the season against the Buccaneers in Week 4 before their bye week, but Jordan Howard only had 11 carries for 25 yards despite the team’s success. Nagy blamed it on the game flow as it called more for Tarik Cohen and Howard said he “wasn’t frustrated” by his role.
Bears vs. Dolphins Prediction
We’re taking the Bears this week 24-18 over the Dolphins.
