Alex Smith and the Washington Redskins will be making a trip to Tampa Bay to take on Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Buccaneers in Week 10. The Redskins sit a game ahead of the Eagles for first place in the NFC East, while the Buccaneers see themselves last in the NFC South with a 3-5 record. Tampa Bay’s hopes for the playoffs is quickly fading as the Saints and Panthers hold commanding leads in the division. It’s basically a three-team race in the NFC East as the Redskins look to hold off the defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles.

Redskins vs. Buccaneers Head to Head
The Redskins defense had been playing well over the past few weeks before allowing 38 points to the Falcons. The defense allowed 17.6 points per game before the Falcons, but we’ve seen Washington struggle against NFC South opponents this season— losing to the Saints in Week 5 43-19, for example. A lot of good things can be said about the Redskins defense this season, especially against the run and with the addition of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to the secondary. Enter a Buccaneers offense that is second in total yards (446.8) and first in passing yards (356.6). It remains to be seen if Alex Smith can win a shootout against a team this season. Given the fact that Smith just surpassed 300 passing yards in a game just once this season makes you think the Buccaneers have a legitimate shot in this one despite the records.
Redskins vs. Buccaneers Stats
The Redskins defense in Week 9 was shredded by Matt Ryan who finished with 350 yards, 4 TD’s and 1 INT. The Buccaneers are going to throw the ball until the cover comes off the ball and a lot of that has to do with their horrid defense. The defense allows the 29th most total yards (414.3) and the 30th most passing yards (307.1). The team is best against the run ranking 15th in the league (107.1). The weapons to each quarterback’s disposal is certainly in favor of the Buccaneers who have Mike Evans, Desean Jackson, Chris Godwin and O.J. Howard.
Redskins vs. Buccaneers News
With all the big offensive names in this matchup, Maurice Harris for the Redskins and Adam Humphries for the Buccaneers are two names to keep an eye out for in Sunday’s game. Harris burst onto the scene in Week 9 against the Falcons with a team-high 10 receptions for 124 yards. The Redskins have been searching for their No. 1 receiver, and they may have just found that in Harris. Adam Humphries finished with a team-high 8 receptions for 82 yards and 2 TD’s for the Buccaneers in Week 9. Fitzpatrick likes to spread the ball around, and Humphries out of the slot has been lethal in recent weeks.
Redskins vs. Buccaneers Predictions
Given the fact that the Buccaneers are playing at home and their ability to put up points, we’re taking them over the Redskins this week. Alex Smith has never really been the type of quarterback to throw for ridiculous amounts of yards, but we’ll see what Sunday’s game brings us. Buccaneers win 32-28 in this one.
