Some people say that the goalkeeper is half a team. The guys below had such a performances, that sometimes they were the entire team. It comes as no surprise that three of them were wearing Manchester United shirt and played under Sir Alex Ferguson, while the other two have played under SAF big rival – Arsene Wenger in Arsenal colours.
Peter Schmeichel – Manchester United
– The Great Dane as he was known made 350 Premier League appearances and won 5 titles, 4 FA cups and a Champions League. He used his size and aura to bully strikers into missing chances, but he could often be seen berating his own defenders for letting the opposition too much space. He has also scored a couple of crazy goals!
David De Gea – Manchester United
He came to Manchester as a skinny 20 year old kid. A few years later he was without a doubt the best goalkeeper in Europe. David de Gea has plenty of time to perform on the biggest of stages, but his trophy cabinet is not empty at all.
Petr Cech – Chelsea and Arsenal
– Petr Cech holds the record for most clean sheets in the history of Premier League. That should be enough to guarantee him a place in our list. His best years he spent in Chelsea, where he won everything, including a Champions League final. He was shown the ultimate respect by the Blues, who let him join city rivals Arsenal.
Edwin Van Der Saar – Manchester United and Fulham
He played in England in the latter stages of his illustrious career, but still managed to win everything with the Red Devils. He made 313 appearances in which he managed to keep 132 clean sheets.
David Seaman – Arsenal and Manchester City
The Arsenal legend was the antithesis of the showboating goalkeepers who make the routine saves look spectacular to grab the headlines. Many times it looked like he finish the games without a spot of dirt on him. He is the second highest capped goalkeeper in England history.
