The footballers who receive the most attention in the media are typically the most prolific ones. Yesterday, on Sunday, Erling Haaland, who was the most feared striker in the previous season, failed to score for the third consecutive Manchester City game. This prompted SportingPedia to investigate the most reliable sources of goals in Europe for the 2023/24 season. One intriguing discovery is that Serhou Guirassy has been the most dependable goal scorer, finding the back of the net in 88% of his matches for Stuttgart. Jude Bellingham has had an impressive start with Real Madrid, securing the second spot, while Erling Haaland ranks as the least reliable, scoring in only 42% of his team’s matches.

Chart of Europe's top scorers 2023/24: Guirassy leads with 87.5%

Methodology: We have considered all players who have tallied a minimum of 7 goals in the top 7 European domestic leagues (Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Primeira Liga, and Eredivisie) up to this point. We have assessed all of their club’s matches, including domestic Cups and Continental tournaments. The ranking is based not on the total number of goals the players have scored, but rather on games with a goal. It’s worth noting that regardless of whether a player has scored 1, 2, or 3 goals in a single match, it only counts as one game with a goal.

Key Takeaways:

  • Serhou Guirassy has been the most consistent source of goals since the beginning of the season, getting on the scoresheet in 88% of the games he has played
  • Erling Haaland has found the back of the net in only 5 of 12 Manchester City games, resulting in a 42% ratio of matches with a goal
  • The German Bundesliga has the most players on the list – 5
  • Jude Bellingham is the only midfielder in the ranking
  • Bayern Munich is the only team with 2 players in the ranking
  • AZ Alkmaar’s Vangelos Pavlidis is the only player to have scored in each of his team’s league matches

The most reliable scorers with goals in 75% or more of their team’s matches

The numbers show that Serhou Guirassy is on a scoring spree and stands out as Europe’s most in-form striker. The Guinea international has featured in 8 Bundesliga matches this season, boasting an astounding tally of 14 goals. Impressively, he has only failed to find the net in one of his 8 appearances for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, resulting in a remarkable games-with-a-goal ratio of 87.5%

Jude Bellingham is experiencing a dream start at Real Madrid. The young Englishman has already accumulated 10 goals in as many games for Los Blancos. Over the weekend, he hit a brace past Osasuna, and even though we are still at a very early stage of the season, Bellingham has been on the scoresheet in 80% of his matches.

Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie has played 9 games, scoring in 7 of them, and achieving a 77.78% rate of games with a goal.

Romelu Lukaku is representing Roma in Serie A. The Belgian who was involved in a lot of controversy this summer has participated in 8 meetings, hitting the targets in 6 of them, resulting in a 75.00% rate of games with a goal.

Jonas Wind, playing for Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga, has participated in 8 encounters, finding the net in 5 of them, thus resulting in a 62.50% rate of matches with a goal.

He boasts a ratio of 41.67% – the lowest of all players who have scored at least 7 league goals prior to the upcoming break for international matches.
