Robert Lewandowski on Lamine Yamal: “The best winger in the world”

Robert Lewandowski has heaped praise on Lamine Yamal, calling him the “best winger in the world” despite his teammate being just 17 years old. Lewandowski, however, emphasized the importance of longevity in a player’s career. “It’s not about how you start, it’s about how you finish” the Polish striker said. “Yamal is 17 and he has to think about the next 10-15 years, not only 2-3 years. He can have a long career.”

Yamal’s meteoric rise has not only caught the attention of his teammates but also the broader footballing world. Cristiano Ronaldo recently spoke about future Ballon d’Or winners, placing Yamal alongside established stars such as Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, and Jude Bellingham. “Kylian Mbappé can win Ballon d’Or for the next few years! Also probably Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham… Also Lamine Yamal” Ronaldo said, placing Barcelona’s prodigy in elite company.

Yamal’s potential is further highlighted by his historic achievement of being named in the final Ballon d’Or shortlist, becoming the youngest player ever to be nominated for the prestigious award at just 17 years old. As Barcelona continues to nurture one of football’s brightest talents, the future looks incredibly promising for Yamal, who is already being mentioned in the same breath as the world’s best.
