The two transfer windows in England this summer will close earlier than usual, specifically at 19:00 Central European Time, the English Football League has announced. Traditionally, the transfer window has closed at 23:00, but the earlier deadline is intended to allow club officials to complete their work at more reasonable hours instead of staying at their desks well past midnight.

EFL confirmed that the 19:00 closing time will apply to both the short window, which will run from 1 to 10 June, and the main window, which will be open from 16 June to 1 September.

The first of these windows is an additional registration period created by FIFA for teams participating in the Club World Cup, which begins in the United States on 14 June. The Premier League will have two representatives in the tournament – Chelsea and Manchester City.

This change aims to provide a more balanced working schedule for club staff while ensuring that all necessary transactions can still be completed in time. It aligns with similar adjustments seen in other European leagues, where the focus has been on improving the work-life balance of football administrators and technical staff.
