Liverpool are targeting a third Bundesliga star after already securing Jeremie Frimpong and leading the race for Florian Wirtz. According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany, the Merseyside club have now opened negotiations for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. Both new manager Arne Slot and football CEO Michael Edwards are keen to bring the 22-year-old Frenchman to Anfield.

Ekitike enjoyed a standout season for Eintracht, scoring 22 goals and registering 15 assists across all competitions. He initially joined the German side on loan from Paris Saint-Germain during the final days of the 2024 January transfer window. After impressing in his brief spell, Frankfurt triggered the option to buy him permanently in the summer for €16.5 million.

At present, Liverpool’s strongest competition for Ekitike’s signature comes from Chelsea. Eintracht Frankfurt have not received any formal offers yet, but the club are demanding a transfer fee in the region of €100 million for their star forward.

The newly crowned Premier League champions are in the market for a new centre forward, with Darwin Nunez widely expected to leave the club this summer.
