The probe centres on former CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues, who allegedly used an unlicensed intermediary during negotiations with Ancelotti. Rodrigues reportedly paid €1.2 million to Diego Fernandes, a businessman without a valid FIFA agent license. According to FIFA regulations, only individuals officially registered in its system may participate directly in negotiations between clubs or federations and players or coaches.
As a result, FIFA has requested full documentation related to the agreement in order to determine whether Fernandes was directly involved in Ancelotti’s arrival. If it is confirmed that Fernandes acted as a broker, the contract between Ancelotti and the Brazilian FA may be deemed invalid. The CBF could also face substantial fines and additional administrative sanctions.
