- Ole Werner, Alexander Blessin and Raul linked to Leipzig’s vacant managerial post
- Leipzig reportedly agreed terms with Cesc Fabregas, but €20M release clause is a stumbling block
- European absence complicates search following 7th-place Bundesliga finish
Key Takeaways:
RB Leipzig have added Ole Werner and Alexander Blessin to their shortlist of candidates for the club’s vacant managerial position, according to German outlet Kicker. Werner recently parted ways with Werder Bremen, while Blessin helped St Pauli remain in the Bundesliga during their first season after promotion.
Another name gaining traction in the Leipzig press is Raul. The Real Madrid legend recently stepped down as manager of Castilla, the club’s reserve team, after six years in charge.
Está cogiendo tracción en la prensa que cubre al Leipzig la opción de Raúl de entrenador.
No acaban de llegar a un acuerdo con el Como por Fabregas, y Glasner costaría más de 20 millones.

The list of potential candidates also includes Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner and Como boss Cesc Fabregas, though signing either of them is considered difficult. German newspaper Bild reports that Leipzig have even reached an agreement with Fabregas, but Como would only release the Spanish coach for a fee of €20 million – a price the Bundesliga side considers too high.
Meanwhile, Glasner led Crystal Palace to the FA Cup title after a final win against Manchester City and recently stated there is a 99% chance he will stay at the Premier League club.
RB Leipzig sacked Marco Rose in March and ended the season under interim coach Zsolt Low. The search for a new head coach has become even more difficult after Leipzig finished the Bundesliga campaign in seventh place, meaning they will not be competing in European competitions next season.
