Ousmane Dembele and the Champions League trophy

    Key Takeaways:

  • Ousmane Dembele was named Champions League Player of the Season
  • Desire Doue won Best Young Player after starring in the final
  • Seven PSG players featured in the UEFA Team of the Season

Paris Saint-Germain, the dominant winners of this season’s Champions League, unsurprisingly swept the individual awards in the tournament.

UEFA confirmed that its panel of technical observers selected PSG’s Ousmane Dembele as the best player of the competition. The winger recorded 8 goals and 6 assists in 15 matches. While he did not score in the 5–0 final win against Inter, he contributed two assists.

The big hero from the final, Desire Doue, was named Best Young Player of the Champions League. The 19-year-old scored twice against Inter and assisted Achraf Hakimi’s opener. In total, he managed 5 goals and 5 assists across 16 appearances in the tournament.

Naturally, both Dembele and Doue were also included in the Team of the Season. PSG dominated the UEFA-selected XI with seven representatives: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, alongside Dembele and Doue. Completing the team were Lamine Yamal and Raphinha from Barcelona, Alessandro Bastoni from Inter, and Declan Rice from Arsenal.
