“We are not going to sell our best players. We will continue to grow with many of the players from this season. We will make two, three or four new signings, but we won’t go recklessly into the market,” he told the BBC.
Two of the players most frequently linked with Barcelona are Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
“We are focused on renewing the contracts of our current players, and then we will talk about new signings. Rashford and Luis Diaz? Of course, those two players, as you said, are good, but they have contracts with their clubs, so we won’t speak about them because it’s not fair. But when we decide to enter the transfer market, we’ll certainly identify some names. In my opinion, we should not bring in too many players,” Deco added.
Diaz himself is aware of Barcelona’s interest, as the club also wanted him last summer. According to Mundo Deportivo, the player has expressed a desire to play at Camp Nou and has refused to negotiate a new contract with Liverpool, as well as turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia. The Merseyside club value Diaz at €80–85 million, but Barcelona hope to significantly lower the price.
