Premier League ends 25-year Nike era as Puma unveils new Orbita Ultimate PL ball for 2025/26 season

    Key Takeaways:

  • Puma replaces Nike as official Premier League ball supplier after 25 years
  • Orbita Ultimate PL to debut at the Summer Series in the USA before 2025/26 season
  • Ball design features 12-panel structure for optimal weight and flight stability

The German brand Puma has unveiled the Orbita Ultimate PL – the new official match ball of the Premier League for the 2025/26 season. It will make its debut this summer during the Premier League Summer Series in the USA, giving the global audience a chance to see it in action before the season kicks off on August 16.

The ball is made of 12 identical panels to ensure perfect weight distribution and stable balance. A special high-frequency bonding technique provides durability and aerodynamic stability, aided by deeper and wider seams that help retain its shape and improve flight.

As part of a long-term partnership, various programmes aimed at developing youth and women’s football will be supported, including Premier League Kicks, international community initiatives, and anti-racism campaigns such as No Room For Racism.

Until now, American brand Nike had been the official supplier of Premier League balls, having collaborated with the English top flight since 2000.

In addition to showcasing the new ball during the summer matches in the USA, community coaching programmes will also be held in New Jersey, Chicago, and Atlanta to promote access to football.
