Milan and Chelsea €20M apart on Mike Maignan price tag

Milan's goalkeeper Mike Maignan

    Key Takeaways:

  • Milan are demanding €30M for goalkeeper Mike Maignan, while Chelsea value him at just €10M
  • Maignan has only one year left on his contract and has not yet renewed with the Rossoneri
  • Chelsea already have five goalkeepers in the squad and do not prioritise signing another

Chelsea are unwilling to meet Milan’s asking price for Mike Maignan. The Blues are in talks with the French international, as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Milan want around €30 million for the goalkeeper.

However, Chelsea are not prepared to pay such a sum for the 29-year-old, who has only one year remaining on his current contract at San Siro. Romano added that the Londoners value Maignan at just €10 million.

The keeper has yet to extend his deal with the Rossoneri, which has sparked interest from the UEFA Conference League winners, though no official offer has been submitted. Chelsea currently have five goalkeepers on their books — Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, Djordje Petrovic, Mike Penders, and Kepa Arrizabalaga — and signing another one is not considered a priority.

Maignan has been at Milan since 2021, arriving from Lille. He won the Ligue 1 title with the French side before helping Milan capture the Scudetto in 2022 and the Italian Super Cup two years later. The France international has 30 caps and was selected in the Team of the Tournament at last year’s European Championship.
