Chelsea’s Club World Cup win leads to £100M sponsorship boost

Chelsea players lift the Club World Cup trophy

    Key Takeaways:

  • Chelsea’s Club World Cup triumph boosts shirt sponsor value to £60M per year
  • Rejected deals last year could have cost the club up to £100M in lost revenue
  • Each player to receive around £350,000 in bonuses for the historic win

Chelsea’s Club World Cup triumph is already bearing financial fruit. The London club lifted the trophy after dismantling Paris Saint-Germain with a commanding 3:0 victory in the final.

According to The Telegraph, this success has opened the door to a new shirt sponsorship deal that could bring Chelsea up to £100 million more in revenue compared to the offers they turned down a year ago.

The players will also be rewarded handsomely for the win, with each set to receive a bonus of around £350,000.

A year ago, Chelsea had been in negotiations with two companies prepared to pay around £40 million per year for shirt sponsorship. However, the board decided to wait. Now, such a deal is expected to reach as high as £60 million annually, with talks already underway with between 7 and 10 major global brands.

A club source pointed out that if Chelsea had accepted a deal last year, they would have lost up to £100 million in potential income. With Champions League qualification secured and the Club World Cup trophy added to their cabinet, the Blues’ negotiating position is now significantly stronger.
