Tottenham pushing to sign Joao Palhinha after Bayern deem midfielder surplus

Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha

    Key Takeaways:

  • Tottenham are working on signing Bayern midfielder Joao Palhinha
  • Bayern want to recoup at least half of the €50M they spent on him
  • A deal can only be finalised after Spurs offload an unwanted player

Tottenham are working on the signing of Bayern midfielder Joao Palhinha, according to journalist Sam Dean. The Spurs believe they can reach an agreement with the Portuguese international, who is considered surplus to requirements at the German club.

The Bundesliga champions signed Palhinha last summer from Fulham, but he failed to establish himself in the team and is now set to leave. At Allianz Arena, Bayern are hoping to recoup at least half of the €50 million they invested in the midfielder.

Tottenham must first offload one of their unwanted players before they can finalise the deal for Palhinha.

If the transfer goes through, it will be the second move from Munich to London this summer. Before that, Tottenham acquired the rights to Mathys Tel.
