The 27-year-old central defender Hancko arrives from Feyenoord for a transfer fee of around 26 million euro, signing a five-year contract. The Slovak, who can also play as a left-back, was close to a transfer to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, but the deal collapsed. He made 140 appearances for Feyenoord, scoring 15 goals.
“I am very happy to be part of such a great club. The first week was perfect for me. The stadium is incredible. It was a dream to play in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid,” said Hancko, who will wear number 17 at his new club.
Atletico also presented 22-year-old Spanish youth international Marc Pubill. The right-back from Almeria, who won Olympic gold with Spain in 2024, joins in a deal worth 16 million euro plus another 4 million in potential bonuses. He had been linked with a move to Milan, but chose to continue his career at the Metropolitano, signing a contract until 2030.
Atletico have been very active in the transfer market, also bringing in Alex Baena, Johnny Cardoso, Thiago Almada and Matteo Ruggeri. Meanwhile, players such as Rodrigo de Paul, Saul Niguez, Samuel Lino, Rodrigo Riquelme, Angel Correa and Reinildo have left the club.
