    Key Takeaways:

  • Tottenham reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for the loan of Joao Palhinha
  • Spurs will cover his entire salary during the loan period
  • A permanent deal could follow for €25–30 million

Portuguese international Joao Palhinha is returning to the Premier League after Tottenham reached an agreement with his current club Bayern Munich to sign him on loan.

Bayern Munich have agreed to send the 30-year-old midfielder on loan, but the deal also includes an option for a transfer. Tottenham could secure Palhinha permanently if they offer between €25 million and €30 million. The two clubs have already settled the loan fee and all financial details. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano adds that Palhinha has agreed personal terms with Spurs, who will pay his entire salary during the loan.

Palhinha joined the German champions last summer from Fulham, who received €51 million for his transfer. However, he struggled to find his form. The Portuguese midfielder played only 25 matches for Bayern, 17 of which were in the Bundesliga. Muscle injuries and viral infections further prevented him from establishing himself in the squad. Palhinha’s contract with Bayern runs until 30 June 2028.
