    Key Takeaways:

  • Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi confirmed Ademola Lookman asked to leave last summer
  • The club and player agreed on two specific conditions for a future sale
  • Lookman recently accused Atalanta of breaking the agreement in a public Instagram post

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi shared the club’s stance regarding Ademola Lookman’s transfer request to Inter, while also revealing the two conditions agreed with the player for a potential sale. The statement comes one day after Lookman published a strong message on Instagram, accusing the club’s management of mistreatment and failing to honour their agreement.

“Now is a good opportunity to clarify what happened. Last year, after an offer of €20 million from Paris Saint-Germain, the player asked us to sell him. Atalanta, as a reliable club, promised the player that he would be sold during this transfer window under two conditions, both of which were requested by him. The first was that he would join a super top European club. The second was that he would never be seen wearing an Italian shirt other than Atalanta’s, considering what he has done for the club and what he has received from us. Today, as you know, the situation is very different. The club always evaluates carefully the value of its players and the right timing for a sale. But, as always, Atalanta – the club – is the one that decides” Percassi explained.

He made the remarks during a press conference held to present Marco Sportiello, the new backup goalkeeper of the team.
