    Key Takeaways:

  • Juventus’ Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer encouraged Neymar to join him in Turin
  • Bremer backed Douglas Luiz despite the midfielder’s recent absence from training
  • The Brazilian defender welcomed the trend of stars like Modric and De Bruyne moving to Serie A

Juventus’ Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer has called on Neymar to join him in Turin. Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport following his return from a long injury layoff, Bremer expressed support for the idea of his fellow countryman signing for the club. The defender also addressed the controversial situation surrounding Douglas Luiz, who is reportedly edging closer to an exit after a dispute with the management.

Bremer didn’t shy away from the growing speculation linking Neymar with a possible return to European football. Asked about high-profile stars joining Serie A in the twilight of their careers, including Luka Modric to Milan and Kevin De Bruyne to Napoli, Bremer said: “Of course. It would be great to have someone like Ney here at Juve.”

Turning to Douglas Luiz, who missed the opening day of Juventus’ pre-season without permission, Bremer confirmed that the midfielder has since apologised to the club and his teammates. Rumours of a Premier League return continue to intensify, but Bremer said: “He made his choice, and the important thing is that he came back and said sorry to the club, the coach and to us. Now he’s here and working well.”

Neymar has recently been linked with a surprise move to Marseille, but the French club is not the only potential suitor if the forward decides to change clubs ahead of next year’s World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
