Liverpool also won their second friendly match against Athletic Bilbao, part of the pre-season preparation for both teams. The Reds secured a 3-2 victory at Anfield just a few hours after the 4-1 triumph.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Oihan Sancet equalised in the 29th, but Cody Gakpo restored the hosts’ lead shortly after the start of the second half. An own goal by the Dutchman brought the score level again, and the winning goal for Liverpool came from Gakpo once more in the 70th minute.
In the second match, Arne Slot started with new signings Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitike. The player signed from Eintracht Frankfurt made an excellent impression and created the goal for Mohamed Salah in the 14th minute.
