According to reports, Eintracht will pay Freiburg €21 million for the transfer, with an additional €1 million in potential bonuses. This makes it the third most expensive transfer ever for a Japanese player and the most expensive for a current member of Japan’s national team.
During the 2024/25 season, Doan recorded 10 goals and 8 assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances for Freiburg. He has also scored 10 goals in 57 matches for the Japan national team.
German media had already reported a week ago that Eintracht had reached a personal agreement with the player, but Freiburg had initially rejected an opening offer of €18 million. Throughout his career, the midfielder has also played for Gamba Osaka, Groningen, PSV Eindhoven, and Arminia Bielefeld.
