Alexander Isak left out of Newcastle friendlies

Newcastle striker Alexander Isak

    Key Takeaways:

  • Alexander Isak will miss Newcastle’s upcoming friendlies against Espanyol and Atletico Madrid
  • Liverpool had a £110M bid rejected but are preparing a second offer after agreeing Nunez’ exit
  • Newcastle will only sell Isak if they secure a replacement, with Nicolas Jackson now linked

Striker Alexander Isak will not feature in Newcastle’s upcoming friendlies. The Magpies host Espanyol later today and Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

Isak has been training separately from his teammates since the beginning of the week, and this was a decision made by manager Eddie Howe. If he leaves Newcastle, Isak is almost certain to join Liverpool, whose first offer worth £110 million was rejected by the Magpies.

The Reds, however, have agreed the outgoing transfer of Darwin Nunez to Al Hilal and are expected soon to make a second offer for the Swedish international.

Newcastle will sell Isak only if they find a replacement. The club had serious interest in Benjamin Sesko, but the Slovenian chose to join Manchester United. Recently, Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has been strongly linked with a move to St James’ Park.
