  • Arsenal have no intention of selling Saliba and aim to extend his contract
  • Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate is also on Real’s radar amid contract uncertainty

Real Madrid are considering offering Brazilian winger Rodrygo to Arsenal in exchange for Arsenal defender William Saliba, according to DefensaCentral.

The Spanish giants are ready to part ways with Rodrygo this summer, and one of their main targets is the French international Saliba.

While Real are willing to release the Brazilian attacker, Arsenal have no intention of letting go of Saliba in the near future.

The French international himself has expressed hope of signing a new contract with the club, and Arsenal’s management are doing everything possible to make it happen as soon as possible.

According to DefensaCentral, Rodrygo is considered surplus to requirements in Madrid’s squad, as reflected in his limited playing time at the recent Club World Cup in the USA. At the same time, Saliba is viewed as a player for the future at Real.

It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will take concrete steps to sign Saliba. Another possible option to strengthen Madrid’s defence is Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate, whose contract with the English champions expires next summer, and whose renewal talks have not been progressing smoothly so far.
