Barcelona Push with Third Offer for Rodri as Cancelo Price Rises

Barcelona Return With Improved Rodri Proposal

Barcelona have gone back to Manchester City with a third offer for Rodri after seeing their first two proposals turned down. The earlier bids were worth 50 and 60 million euros respectively, but the Catalan club have now moved closer to City’s valuation.

Тhe figure currently being discussed sits halfway between Barcelona’s previous 60 million offer and Manchester City’s requested fee of 80 million euros. That places the latest proposal at around 70 million, although it remains unclear whether that amount includes bonuses.

Barcelona remain confident and optimistic that an agreement can be reached very soon. Rodri returned to Great Britain late last night on a flight from Madrid after the end of his holiday and is scheduled to resume training with the Citizens. However, that may not take place if the clubs finalise his move to Camp Nou quickly.

Ferran Torres Sale Could Fund Immediate Business

Barcelona have also agreed the sale of Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain for 50 million euros. That transfer fee is expected to be used immediately as the club continue working on their incoming deals.

Cancelo Return Becomes More Expensive

Barcelona also moved swiftly after the end of last season to negotiate Joao Cancelo’s return from Al-Hilal. The Portuguese defender made a positive impression under Hansi Flick during the final part of the campaign, and the two clubs had appeared to reach an agreement for around €10 million.

That position has now shifted. According to Saudi outlet Al Yaum, Al-Hilal have raised their asking price to €15 million.

Inzaghi Leaves Cancelo Out of Al-Hilal Opener

The change in valuation follows Simone Inzaghi’s decision to leave Cancelo out of Al-Hilal’s squad for their league opener. The Italian coach does not appear to count on the Portuguese defender and does not believe he is physically ready to compete, even though Cancelo has trained with his team-mates for a week.

Cancelo, meanwhile, has continued to show that he wants to return to Barcelona. The 32-year-old has repeatedly uploaded images of himself wearing Barça colours on social media, including another photograph in the club’s kit on Friday morning. That latest Instagram post reinforced a preference that has been clear since the end of last season.

During his previous campaign, Cancelo scored two goals and provided three assists in 23 appearances. He wants to return to Barcelona for what would be his third spell with the club.

Al-Hilal’s Position Complicates Deco’s Decision

Cancelo’s preference now conflicts with Al-Hilal’s stance. The Saudi club had even handed him the No. 20 shirt for the new season, suggesting that his future had not been fully resolved.

The original agreement with Barça was reportedly close to €10 million, with only some administrative details left to complete. Al-Hilal have since changed the conditions and are now demanding €15 million to release the Portuguese full-back, who can play on either side of defence.

With the transfer window closing and Al-Hilal also interested in Marc Casado, pressure is increasing on Deco. Cancelo has made it very clear that he wants to return to Barcelona, while Flick is also keen on a reunion. Barça must now decide whether to meet Al-Hilal’s increased demands or risk the deal collapsing in the final days of the window.
