Wahi Agrees Nice Terms as Clubs Work on Purchase Option
Elye Wahi (23) has reached an agreement on personal terms with OGC Nice ahead of a proposed loan move from Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season. The Ivorian forward is satisfied with the financial package offered by the Ligue 1 side, placing him on course to return to the Côte d’Azur club.
Wahi played a significant role for Les Aiglons during the closing stages of the Ligue 1 season, when Nice narrowly avoided a disastrous relegation to Ligue 2. Across his spell with the French club last season, the 23-year-old scored 5 goals in 15 appearances.

Those contributions have encouraged Nice to continue pushing for his return for the upcoming season. Le Gym are also seeking a purchase option that would allow them to make the striker’s move permanent beyond what would be his second loan spell. Negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt are continuing, although Tavolieri reports that an agreement between the two clubs is close.
Atubolu Targeted After Brentford Collapse
Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly moved into the market for a new first-choice goalkeeper following their damaging pre-season finale against Brentford. SC Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu has become the club’s preferred candidate between the posts.
Frankfurt’s goalkeeping situation had already been a major talking point throughout the 2025/26 campaign. Brazilian goalkeeper Kauã Santos had been expected to take over from long-serving No.1 Kevin Trapp, but injuries and costly mistakes prevented the 23-year-old from making the position his own. Michael Zetterer, who arrived from Werder Bremen last summer, also failed to secure the starting role on a lasting basis.
Saturday’s 7-0 friendly defeat away at Brentford has now prompted a reassessment. Santos had another difficult performance in England, and Sportingpedia sources claim that Eintracht have resolved to sign a new No.1 before the transfer window closes.
The Freiburg academy product had previously seemed likely to move abroad, with the Premier League long viewed as his preferred destination. Aston Villa and Bournemouth were among the clubs linked with the German youth international, while there was also interest from Italian clubs. A switch to Frankfurt would therefore represent a somewhat surprising route for Atubolu to stay in the Bundesliga.
Any deal is still at a very early stage, but the situation could accelerate during the coming week as Frankfurt attempt to address one of the clearest weaknesses highlighted by their heavy defeat at Brentford. Signing Atubolu for Hessen would also represent a major statement, giving Frankfurt the chance to settle a position that has remained unstable since Trapp’s departure.
