Tottenham in Talks Over Double Deal for Manchester City’s Savinho and Marmoush

Savinho celebrates after scoring for Manchester City

Key Takeaways:

  • Tottenham entered advanced talks with Manchester City over acquiring both Savinho and Omar Marmoush
  • City have not yet set an agreed price, but expect substantial profit after their initial investments
  • Spurs will open their Premier League season away at Brentford on Saturday

Negotiations Progress on Savinho and Marmoush

Tottenham Hotspur are actively negotiating with Manchester City regarding the potential signings of forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush. Sources have informed Sportingpedia that discussions are ongoing and advancing, though no formal agreement is in place at this stage.

Player Profiles and Recent Performances

Brazilian winger Savinho, aged 22, was previously a transfer target for Spurs in 2025, but ultimately chose to remain at Etihad Stadium at that time. Since his £30m transfer from French side Troyes in 2024, Savinho has found first-team opportunities limited, registering only seven starts in the Premier League last season. Facing this lack of playing time, he is now considering a move away from City.

Meanwhile, Omar Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025 for a fee of £59m. The 27-year-old forward struggled to make a consistent impact under Pep Guardiola during the 2025-26 campaign, finding the net eight times across 36 appearances in all competitions.

Financial Considerations and Squad Reshaping

Manchester City’s precise valuation for Savinho and Marmoush remains undisclosed. However, the club anticipate generating substantial returns on both, given their transfer fees and recent activity in the market.

Tottenham head coach Roberto de Zerbi has already made substantial changes in midfield this summer, securing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for a collective outlay of £185m. Following a disappointing 17th-place Premier League finish last season, in which the side only scored 48 goals across 38 matches, De Zerbi has identified the need to bolster the attacking division further.

Transfer Prospects and Opening Fixtures

Spurs have also expressed interest in Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, though it remains uncertain if the club will have the resources to pursue Gakpo in addition to moves for Marmoush and Savinho.

Manchester City have already seen several departures this window, including Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders, and backup goalkeeper James Trafford.

Tottenham begin their Premier League campaign with a trip to Brentford on Saturday. Manchester City start their season at home to Bournemouth on Sunday.
