Juventus Return to the Sorloth File

Juventus are continuing their search for a new centre-forward, with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that the club have reopened contact with Atletico Madrid regarding Alexander Sorloth in recent hours.

The move has come after Luciano Spalletti’s forceful remarks about Randal Kolo Muani, the most expensive Juventus signing this summer. The France forward returned to Turin from PSG on a permanent transfer worth €38m plus €12m in add-ons.

Although Spalletti had spent several months pushing for Kolo Muani’s arrival, the Juventus coach is now looking for another attacking option and is said to want a more traditional centre-forward profile.

Why Sorloth Is Back on the Juventus Agenda

Spalletti’s preference currently appears to be Sorloth rather than Manchester United’s Josha Zirkzee. That has prompted Juventus to resume negotiations with Atletico Madrid, known as the Colchoneros, as the club explore options before the close of the transfer window.

Sorloth’s career path also adds a notable data angle to the story. A recent Sportingpedia report identified the Atletico Madrid striker as the player with the most transfers in his career, having already completed 11 moves. Juventus may become his latest destination if talks with Atletico progress.

Nico Gonzalez Could Be Central to a Swap Deal

The two clubs have again discussed the possibility of a swap arrangement involving Nico Gonzalez. The winger spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Atletico Madrid and wants to return there before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Juventus and Atletico Madrid had already examined this potential deal in June. Those earlier talks took place before Giovanni Carnevali was appointed as the Old Lady’s new CEO and before Damien Comolli departed.
