Roma Turn Attention Towards Kehrer

AS Roma’s search for defensive reinforcement has taken another turn, with Thilo Kehrer (29) now emerging as a player of interest. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Giallorossi are looking at the Monaco defender, who appears to have slipped down the hierarchy at the Stade Louis II.

Kehrer had been an important figure under Adi Hutter and remained heavily involved last season under Sébastien Pocognoli. However, his status may change under new manager Filipe Luís, with Monaco’s defensive picture shifting during the summer.

Eric Dier has moved back into prominence despite earlier indications that he could leave the club. The Englishman even took the captain’s armband after Denis Zakaria was substituted during Monaco’s UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier against Górnik Zabrze on Thursday evening. Sadibou Sané has also arrived from FC Metz and is expected to have a major role.

Di Marzio understands that Roma are weighing up a loan move for Kehrer. The former Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham United defender has also been linked with a return to Germany.

Oosterwolde Move Abandoned After Medical Concerns

Roma have opted not to complete the signing of Jayden Oosterwolde after his medical raised concerns. The player is now returning to Fenerbahce, with reports suggesting that he will be out for at least two months.

The two clubs had reached an agreement last week on a loan worth €1m, including an option to buy for a further €15m plus add-ons at the end of the season. That option would have become an obligation if certain conditions were met.

Roma were already uneasy about Oosterwolde’s fitness because he has not played since early August due to a thigh injury. Those concerns were reinforced by medical tests this week, with additional checks suggesting that the Dutchman could be unavailable until December or even January.

Turkish transfer pundit Yagiz Sabuncuoglu insists it was Oosterwolde himself who pulled the plug on the transfer, rejecting the new personal terms and temporary nature of the move.
