Mbappé Named Among Alleged Kidnapping Targets in France

Kylian Mbappé, the France national team captain and Real Madrid goalscorer, was allegedly among the intended victims of a kidnapping scheme in France, according to Le Parisien reports. The reported plan was disrupted after police detained 18-year-old Clément L. and another man described as his accomplice.

The alleged targets were not limited to the footballer. Businessmen and a rapper were also named as potential victims in the reported plot.

Clément L. has been kept in custody and placed in isolation. His alleged accomplice, however, has been released under judicial supervision.

Arrests Followed Theft Case in Nanterre

The two men were arrested on August 21 in Nanterre, in the Hauts-de-Seine department, in connection with theft. Clément L., described as thin and with long hair, is suspected of ordering a series of attacks on victims’ homes, as well as being involved in planned or prepared kidnappings.

The alleged incidents were carried out or prepared between April 11 and August 19 across Neuilly-sur-Seine, Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt in the Val-d’Oise department, and Santenay in the Côte-d’Or department.

Asencio Convicted After Alcohol Test in Gran Canaria

In a separate case involving another Real Madrid player, defender Raúl Asencio was convicted of drunk driving in the southern part of Gran Canaria two weeks ago. According to the outlet Atlántico Hoy, the footballer was stopped on August 16 during a routine check while driving his Porsche in an entertainment area in the southern part of the island.

The test recorded 0.90 mg/l of alcohol, a figure described as almost four times above the maximum permitted limit of 0.25%. As a result, Asencio was convicted of a crime against road safety.

During fast-track court proceedings in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Asencio accepted the punishment imposed. He was fined 14,400 euros and had his driver’s license revoked for eight months.

Further Legal Proceedings Await Real Madrid Defender

Asencio will soon be involved in another legal case in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He and three other former players from Los Blancos’ academy – Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez and Andrés García – have been preliminarily charged with two offences concerning the disclosure of secrets.

The Real Madrid defender has been accused of sharing a video with sexual content without consent, involving an underage girl. The case dates back to June 2023, when Asencio and three of his former youth-team colleagues recorded and distributed the footage. The prosecution is seeking a sentence of two years, six months and one day in prison, along with a financial penalty.
