Serious Knee Injury Confirmed In Training
Olympique Lyonnais have suffered a significant setback after Mohamed Ouédraogo sustained a serious knee injury during training. Earlier today the OL wing-back ruptured a cruciate ligament, an injury that will keep him out for several months. The precise duration of his absence has not been communicated and it remains unclear whether Ouédraogo will be expected back before the end of the season.

International Break Ends Without Minutes For Burkina Faso Defender
The injury came after what proved to be a difficult return from the international break for Ouédraogo. The Burkina Faso international had joined up with the national team, known as the Stallions, but did not get onto the pitch and returned to Lyon without playing a single minute.
For OL, the timing is particularly problematic. Ouédraogo had not yet established himself as a regular starter, but his availability still mattered because of Lyon’s added workload, including their UEFA Europa League obligations this season.
Limited Game Time Since Summer Arrival
Ouédraogo, 23, arrived at Lyon during the summer transfer window, joining for a little over two million euros from SCR Altach in Austria.
His opportunities in Lyon colours have been restricted since the start of the season. Competition from Abner and Nicolas Tagliafico at left-back has made it difficult for him to secure consistent minutes. He has played five matches in all competitions, including two starts, and has featured for a total of 216 minutes for OL.
Lyon Continue Ligue 1 Push Without Added Depth
The injury comes with Lyon in strong domestic form. Paulo Fonseca’s men have made an excellent start to the Ligue 1 season and occupy second place behind AS Monaco.
OL will next travel to RC Lens this Friday in the opening match of the 6th round of the championship, but they will now do so without Ouédraogo as part of their defensive options.
