Stroppa Dismissed After Winless Start
Venezia have ended Giovanni Stroppa’s time as head coach of the first team following a bleak opening to their Serie A campaign. The club announced the decision on Tuesday, with the side having lost all six of their 2026/27 league matches and sitting at the bottom of the table with zero points.

The 3-1 defeat to Atalanta last night was identified as the catalyst for the decision. Venezia’s hierarchy, overseeing the orange-black-green club, acted amid what had become a prolonged crisis on the pitch.
Stroppa, 58, is a former AC Milan midfielder and Italy international. He took charge of Venezia in June last year and led the team back to Serie A after a one-season absence, securing promotion with a first-placed finish in Serie B.
Club Thanks Coach And Staff
In its official statement, Venezia expressed gratitude to Stroppa and his coaching team for their contribution during his spell in charge.
“The club would like to thank Giovanni Stroppa and his staff for their work, professionalism, dedication and commitment throughout their time with the arancioneroverde,” Venezia said in a statement.
Replacement Search Under Way
Paolo Zanetti and Davide Nicola are the two names being considered to replace Stroppa. The next task for Venezia will come in Serie A when the team from Venice host Napoli.
