Barcelona Win Brings Major Injury Fallout
Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-2 UEFA Champions League victory over Barcelona on Tuesday came with significant physical setbacks for Luis Enrique’s squad, with three players forced into the injury discussion on the night.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sustained an ACL injury in the second half, an issue described as potentially season-ending. He will undergo an operation in the coming days and is expected to miss the majority, if not the entirety, of the season.
🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Despite his serious injury, PSG are DETERMINED to extend Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s contract until 2032!

The Georgia international had been an important figure in PSG’s successful attempt to defend their UEFA Champions League title last season. If Les Parisiens are to secure the competition for a third consecutive time, they are now expected to have to do so largely without him.
Contract Strategy Unchanged Despite ACL Blow
PSG’s long-term plans for Kvaratskhelia have not changed despite the severity of his injury. Before the setback, the winger had been in contract extension talks with the club.
His existing agreement at the Parc des Princes runs until 2029, but PSG are seeking to extend that deal until 2032. The French club also want to make him one of their top earners. Kvaratskhelia is a nominee for this season’s Ballon d’Or award.
Dembélé Timeline And France Uncertainty
Ousmane Dembélé also withdrew during the win over Barcelona, having suffered a hamstring injury before Kvaratskhelia’s second-half ACL injury. However, his problem is considered less serious.
Dembélé’s absence is estimated at around three weeks. The Ballon d’Or winner will miss PSG’s matches against Olympique Lyonnais, Le Havre AC, Villarreal, and ESTAC Troyes.
It remains to be seen whether he will be fit enough to feature for France during the international break. L’Équipe understands that it is unlikely that Dembélé will be ready to play. Zinédine Zidane will announce his squad on 6th November, before Les Bleus face Italy on 12th November and Turkiye on 15th November.
In any case, Dembélé is expected to be again operational following the conclusion of the international break.
