Bayern Secure Kane’s Long-Term Future
Bayern Munich announced in a statement on Thursday that Harry Kane has agreed a contract extension keeping him at the Allianz Arena until 2029, with the club confirming the deal runs until June 2029. The agreement ended months of speculation about the England striker’s future and tied the freshly crowned Ballon d’Or winner as the world’s best player for 2026 to the German champions for three more years.
Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023 in a transfer worth £86 million. His previous agreement had only eight months left to run, and he had been linked with a return to the Premier League as he continued to pursue Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record. That possibility has now faded after his renewed commitment to Bayern.
Record Salary and Elite Output
Kane is now positioned as the highest-paid player in Europe. German reports cited by the English Daily Mail claim the new contract lifted his salary to £400,000 per week, a figure believed to be the highest basic wage on the continent.
The financial package reflects a period of extraordinary production. Kane registered 73 goals in 65 matches for club and country last season, a return that helped him win the Ballon d’Or ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal at last week’s ceremony in London. Since moving to Bayern, the England captain has scored 156 goals in 161 matches for the club.
Kane, Kompany and Bayern’s Ambitions
After signing, Kane said he feels at home in Munich, loves the club and its supporters, and that his family are settled. He also praised the squad and manager Vincent Kompany, while making clear his desire to win many more titles with Bayern.
Club president Herbert Hainer described the agreement as a special chapter that started with a major transfer. He added that Kane has earned a place in the hearts of Bayern supporters, praised Jan-Christian Dreesen and the sporting leadership, and regarded the extension as a special moment for the club.
Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member, said the renewal gives the club planning certainty and shows that its biggest objectives remain within reach. He also described Kane as a player who creates unique opportunities and a central figure in shaping Bayern’s future direction.
Silverware in Munich and England Progress
Before his move to Munich, trophies had always eluded Kane. Since joining Bayern, he has quickly changed that picture by winning two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and two German Super Cups in two years.
His influence has also extended to the international stage. This summer, Kane captained England to the Three Lions’ best World Cup finish since 1966, securing the bronze medal. He scored six goals in seven matches under Thomas Tuchel.
