Oklahoma City Thunder won the Western Conference title in the NBA. The Thunder closed out the final series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, winning Game 5 with a commanding 124:94 victory (26:9, 39:23, 23:30, 36:32), sealing the series 4:1 in their favour. With this result, the team became the first NBA finalist this season and made a strong statement in their pursuit of the championship.

From the opening minutes of the game at the Paycom Center, the hosts showed they were fully focused and determined to finish off their opponent. In the first quarter, they held Minnesota to just 9 points, and in the second, they continued to dominate, at one point pushing the lead close to 40 points.

The Timberwolves managed to regroup after halftime and slightly cut into the deficit, but they never mounted a serious comeback effort. In the end, the game was convincingly won by Oklahoma.

Once again, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander stood out above all with 34 points and 7 rebounds. Chet Holmgren added 22 points for the hosts, while Jaylen Williams finished with 19.

For Minnesota, Julius Randle was the top scorer with 24 points, Anthony Edwards had 19, and Naz Reid scored 11.

This marks the second time in franchise history that Oklahoma has reached the NBA Finals, the first being their 2012 loss to the Miami Heat. The Thunder now await the Eastern Conference winner, to be decided between the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks. The Pacers lead the series 3:1.
