Key Takeaways:
Simone Inzaghi is leaving Inter by mutual agreement, the club officially announced. He is heading to Saudi Arabia to take charge of Al-Hilal. The decision follows today’s meeting between the coach, club president Beppe Marotta, and sporting director Piero Ausilio. The conversation reportedly lasted just 30 minutes, suggesting everything had been settled beforehand.

The former striker departs “Giuseppe Meazza” after four seasons in charge. During that time, he won six trophies, including one Serie A title and two Coppa Italia crowns. Under his leadership, the “Nerazzurri” also reached two Champions League finals, but lost both — something that remains Inzaghi’s biggest regret. The heavy 0:5 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain a few days ago was a key factor in ending the relationship.
“On behalf of our shareholder Oaktree and the entire club, I want to thank Simone Inzaghi for his work, the passion he showed, and for the honesty during today’s discussion, which led to our mutual decision to part ways. Only when you’ve fought side by side for success every day can you have such a sincere dialogue as we had today,” said club president Giuseppe Marotta after the meeting.
The leading candidate to replace Inzaghi at Inter is Cesc Fabregas (Como), with other options including Roberto De Zerbi (Marseille) and Roberto Mancini.
Inzaghi is immediately heading to Saudi Arabia, where he will take the helm at Al-Hilal. The club missed out on the domestic league title but will compete in the upcoming Club World Cup, which kicks off in mid-June. Inzaghi’s debut will come at the tournament, against Real Madrid on June 18.
