    Key Takeaways:

  • Atletico Madrid have identified Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson as their top defensive target
  • The Scottish international is yet to make a decision and will discuss his future after a short break
  • No talks about a potential transfer fee will take place until Robertson evaluates his career options

Last week, reports emerged that Atletico Madrid had identified Liverpool’s left-back Andrew Robertson as their main transfer target, with the player reportedly open to a change of club. Diego Simeone’s side are keen to strengthen the left side of their defence and had previously shown interest in Milan’s Theo Hernandez, but all indications now suggest that such a move is no longer under consideration.

At present, however, the Scottish international has yet to make a final decision about his future. The 31-year-old Robertson plans to take a short break before discussing the situation in detail with the club. The relationship between the two sides remains excellent and is based on mutual respect, built over the defender’s eight-year spell at Anfield.

At this stage, there will be no discussions regarding a possible transfer fee until the player himself decides which options he would like to explore for the next step in his career.
