Mohamed Salah leads PFA Player of the Season nominees eyeing unprecedented third prize

Liverpool and Premier League top scorer Mohamed Salah is among the nominees for the Player of the Year award presented by the Professional Footballers’ Association. His teammate Alexis Mac Allister also features on the list. The award is voted on by footballers playing in England, with last year’s prize going to Phil Foden.

Salah, who has won the award twice, is considered the favourite after recording 29 goals and 18 assists. He could become the first player in the 52-year history of the PFA awards to win the Players’ Player of the Year three times.

Among the nominees is also Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, despite the disappointing season for the Red Devils. The list is completed by Declan Rice from Arsenal, Cole Palmer of Chelsea, and Alexander Isak from Newcastle.

Mac Allister is recognized for his contribution to Liverpool’s title-winning campaign. Isak finished second in the Premier League scoring charts with 23 goals, while Palmer managed 15 goals and 8 assists but saw a weaker second half of the season.

The winner will be announced at the 52nd PFA awards in Manchester on 19 August 2025.
