Neymar extends deal with Santos through end of 2025

Neymar in his 2nd debut for Santos

    Key Takeaways:

  • Neymar officially extended contract with Santos until end of 2025
  • The forward returned to his boyhood club in January and has scored 3 goals in 12 matches
  • Lack of offers forced him to stay in Brazil to pursue 2026 World Cup call-up

Superstar Neymar has officially renewed his contract with Santos, the Brazilian club announced. The 33-year-old forward will remain with his boyhood team at least until the end of 2025, with the deal also including an option for extension.

“Where it all began. Where it will never end,” Santos wrote in their announcement of the new agreement.

The Brazilian international returned to the club at the end of January this year and has since made 12 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals. The player’s initial aim was to secure a quick move to a major club in order to earn a call-up for the 2026 World Cup. However, with no offers on the table, he has been forced to stay at Santos.

Neymar is a product of the club’s academy and made his senior debut in 2008 before moving to Barcelona in 2013. Since Carlo Ancelotti took over as head coach of the national team, the door for a return has remained open, but recurring injuries continue to be a serious obstacle.
