As expected, European teams are dominating the tournament. Of the twelve clubs from the continent, only three – Porto, Atletico Madrid, and Red Bull Salzburg – were eliminated during the group stage.
The statistical agency Opta ran a prediction model using its supercomputer, which evaluates data based on thousands of criteria, to forecast the potential winner of the tournament.
According to the model, the strongest contender for the title is European champions Paris Saint-Germain. The French side’s chances are rated at 20.6%. Close behind are Manchester City with 20.4%. The next top favourites are also European – Inter, Bayern, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and others.
On the other hand, Brazilian side Fluminense, Mexico’s Monterrey, and Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami have been given nearly zero chance of winning the tournament.
