    Key Takeaways:

  • Lillard leaves Milwaukee after two seasons and a torn achilles
  • Bucks to pay out the remaining $113M on his contract across 5 years
  • Turner arrives on a $107M deal as Bucks try to satisfy Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks have parted ways with Damian Lillard and will pay out the remaining $113 million on his contract over the next five years in order to acquire Myles Turner, reported ESPN’s Shams Charania. Turner has agreed to a four-year deal worth $107 million, including a player option for the 2028–29 season.

Lillard’s time in Milwaukee ends after two seasons, with the seven-time All-Star rupturing his Achilles in early May. The Bucks found a creative way to move on from the veteran guard without sacrificing future draft assets, which could prove critical for the team’s long-term plans.

The move for Turner comes as the Bucks try to satisfy Giannis Antetokounmpo to remain in Milwaukee, amid mounting reports that the two-time MVP might consider a move elsewhere. Keeping the Greek star happy has become a top priority for the franchise following another disappointing playoff exit.

Turner, who played a key role in Indiana’s run to the NBA Finals, had hoped to remain with the Pacers, but the team was unable to offer him a competitive contract to stay. Milwaukee took advantage of the situation and secured the 28-year-old center to bolster their frontcourt and defensive core.
