The 23-year-old Swede, whom Forest signed from Manchester United for just around £15 million in 2023, scored six goals and provided 11 assists for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side last season – a highly successful campaign that saw the club finish seventh in the final standings.
Nottingham Forest began preparations for the new season yesterday, but Elanga was not part of the group – a clear sign that he is on his way out. He is expected to undergo a medical shortly, after which he will sign a long-term contract with Newcastle.
Elanga joined Manchester United at the age of just 12 and went on to make 55 appearances for the Red Devils’ first team before moving to the City Ground.
