On Sunday, Chelsea will face the winner of the Paris Saint-Germain vs Real Madrid semi-final in the battle for the trophy. The final will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. A year from now, the same stadium will also host the final of the FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
“We received tremendous support from the American government and from President Trump for the organisation of the FIFA Club World Cup, as well as for the World Cup next year,” Infantino said during his speech at the opening of FIFA’s new office.
Donald Trump enjoys attending major sporting events. In February, the 79-year-old American president was among the spectators at the Super Bowl in New Orleans, becoming the first sitting head of state to watch the NFL title game live. In May, he announced from the Oval Office that the 2027 NFL Draft will take place on the National Mall in front of the Capitol building in Washington.
