The move would mark a repeat of last season’s strategy, when Bournemouth also reinforced their goalkeeping ranks with a Chelsea player – that time it was Kepa Arrizabalaga, who arrived on loan.
Petrovic, 25, is not part of manager Enzo Maresca’s plans and is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. He spent last season on loan at Strasbourg, where he impressed, but was ultimately left out of Chelsea’s squad for the Club World Cup.
The Serbian has already agreed personal terms with Bournemouth and is now waiting for Chelsea’s approval to complete the transfer. The Blues signed Petrovic from New England Revolution two years ago.
