Francisco Conceicao celebrates after scoring for Juventus

    Key Takeaways:

  • Juventus have signed Francisco Conceicao permanently from Porto for €32 million
  • The winger waived €6.4 million owed to him to facilitate the move
  • Only Kenan Yildiz and Moise Kean outperformed Conceicao in key dribbling stats last season

Juventus officially confirmed the permanent transfer of Portuguese international Francisco Conceicao. The 22-year-old winger has been signed from Porto for a fee of around €32 million. Last season, Conceicao was already part of the Bianconeri squad on loan.

Following his impressive performances, including at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, Juventus opted to make the deal permanent. Prior to that, the club had paid €10 million to Porto for the player’s loan.

Conceicao made a major personal gesture to ensure the transfer could go through. He gave up 20% of the transfer fee owed to him — a total of approximately €6.4 million.

In their official statement, Juventus also shared an interesting statistic about the winger. Since joining in August, only Kenan Yildiz (84) has completed more successful dribbles than Conceicao (71) across all competitions for the Bianconeri. In Serie A, only Moise Kean (19) registered more shots following a successful dribble than Conceicao (12) since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, the club’s interest in Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has cooled off and from Juve have put negotiations on hold, according to reports in Italy. The winger has been on the Bianconeri’s radar for several weeks, following the end of his loan spell at Chelsea, where the London club paid a fee to avoid triggering the purchase clause.
