In response, Newcastle have already begun working on securing his replacement. According to Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein, the club’s top target is RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko. The English side has already made contact with the German club to explore the possibility of signing the 22-year-old Slovenian international.
However, the deal remains financially challenging for Newcastle. There is a gentleman’s agreement between Sesko and RB Leipzig, under which the club would be willing to let him go for a reduced fee to a select group of teams that the player considers special. In this context, the price could be lowered to the range of €70–80 million, plus additional bonuses of €5–10 million.
If Isak does indeed leave St James’ Park, Sesko emerges as the leading option to replace him. At the same time, Newcastle are also in talks for Yoane Wissa from Brentford, while earlier in the summer the club attempted to sign Hugo Ekitike but lost out to Liverpool.
