Match Analysis

Jerami Grant produced a standout display, registering a season-high 35 points to guide the Portland Trail Blazers to a commanding 115-103 win against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night. The Blazers used a decisive 18-0 run spanning the late third and early fourth quarters to establish an insurmountable 102-74 cushion, ultimately leading by as many as 33 points in the encounter.

This result marked just Portland’s second victory in their last seven outings, following a heavy 122-95 defeat at Oklahoma City the previous night. On the other hand, the Bucks were consigned to a fifth consecutive loss as they continue to struggle without star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, who sat out a third straight game with a left adductor strain.

Player Performances and Squad Updates

Along with Grant’s offensive heroics, Deni Avdija contributed 22 points for the Trail Blazers, and Donovan Clingan recorded a double-double, amassing 14 points and 12 rebounds. The Blazers fielded a depleted roster, missing Jrue Holiday (right calf strain), Scoot Henderson (torn left hamstring), Shaedon Sharpe (right calf strain), Matisse Thybulle (torn left thumb ligament), and Blake Wesley (fractured right foot).

The Bucks’ efforts were led by Bobby Portis, who tallied 22 points, with Cole Anthony adding 16 and Kyle Kuzma supplying 15. Myles Turner chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. After relinquishing the lead with 7:35 remaining in the second quarter, Milwaukee never regained the advantage and trailed by double figures throughout the entirety of the second half.

Lillard’s Return and Crowd Reception

The fixture carried additional significance with seven-time all-NBA guard Damian Lillard making his first appearance at Milwaukee since rejoining the Trail Blazers after two seasons with the Bucks. Lillard, who was waived by the Bucks in the summer to facilitate the signing of Myles Turner, travelled with Portland despite not playing this season due to a torn Achilles tendon. Antetokounmpo greeted Lillard on the court prior to tip-off, and the Milwaukee fans paid tribute with a standing ovation following a scoreboard video package during the first timeout.

What Comes Next

The Trail Blazers will host the San Antonio Spurs in an NBA Cup fixture on Wednesday, while Milwaukee will travel to face the Miami Heat, also in NBA Cup action.
