Totti Confirms Ongoing Negotiations for Roma Return

Francesco Totti, revered as a club icon at Roma, has confirmed that negotiations are ongoing for his potential comeback in an executive capacity at the Stadio Olimpico. The 47-year-old former forward revealed that productive discussions have taken place regarding the possibility of resuming his association with the Giallorossi, this time as a director.

These talks emerge after Claudio Ranieri, serving as a senior advisor, publicly stated weeks ago that Roma’s ownership are considering introducing Totti into a crucial role within the club’s management structure.

“I’ve always been a fan. To me, Roma is my home; it’s always been, even if I’m not there. I’m happy with what they are doing and their path,” Totti told Sky Sport Italia earlier today.

“There have been rumours lately. It’s true, we are talking, discussing some details and deciding what’s best for everyone. I hope we can solve this situation soon. Sooner or later, surely we are talking about it.”

Relationship With Gasperini and Recent Meeting

Totti also took the opportunity to express his admiration for head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who took charge last summer. During their recent meeting, the pair reportedly discussed a host of subjects, both football-related and otherwise.

“He has started on the right foot, and we are cheering him on for a return to the Champions League. I had dinner with him, and we spoke a bit about everything, not just about football,” Totti concluded.

Roma’s League Position and Upcoming Fixture

Following a 2-2 draw away to Napoli on Sunday, Roma currently occupy fourth place in the Serie A standings, boasting a tally of 47 points. This leaves them just ahead of Juventus, who sit in fifth position with 46 points. The Giallorossi are scheduled to host Juventus in a pivotal Serie A clash at the Stadio Olimpico on 1 March.

Totti’s Legacy at Roma

Throughout his illustrious playing career, Francesco Totti remained loyal to Roma, making 786 appearances, scoring 307 goals, and helping the side secure the Serie A title in the 2000/01 season.
