Milan Stand Firm on Pulisic Retention Amid Major MLS Interest

Christian Pulisic

Key Takeaways:

  • New York City FC expressed interest in acquiring Christian Pulisic and offered a €10m-per-season contract over five years
  • Multiple MLS clubs are prepared to submit proposals if Pulisic becomes available this summer
  • Milan currently have no plans to sell Pulisic, who remains under contract until June 2027 with an option to extend through 2028

Rossoneri Standing Firm Amid Stateside Pursuit

Christian Pulisic’s future remains a point of considerable speculation, as interest from New York City FC and a host of other Major League Soccer clubs has intensified. Despite these advances, Milan are reportedly unwilling to part ways with the USA international during the present transfer window.

Lucrative MLS Proposals on the Table

New York City FC have identified Pulisic as a marquee target, tabling an offer valued at €10m per season across a five-year contract. This proposal would make him one of the highest-paid players in the league. The Athletic has corroborated these claims and further reported that several other MLS sides are ready to present their own offers should Pulisic become available before the summer window closes.

Milan’s Position and Contract Situation

Nevertheless, The Athletic notes that such a transfer is unrealistic for the upcoming window, as Milan have shown no willingness to let Pulisic leave. The 26-year-old, who remains a pivotal figure for both club and country, is entering what is technically the final year of his current deal, which is set to expire at the end of June 2027. However, the Rossoneri hold a club option that would allow them to extend the agreement by a further 12 months, through to summer 2028.

Pulisic Focused on International Ambitions

For the time being, Pulisic’s attention remains firmly on the upcoming World Cup campaign with the United States Men’s National Team. This status quo is not expected to shift until after the tournament concludes. Meanwhile, Milan have been working to secure the forward – formerly of Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund – on improved terms, although a formal agreement has yet to be reached. Previous reports have indicated that Milan do not feel pressured to expedite discussions, given their option to extend Pulisic’s stay through 2028.
