Managerial Upheaval at the City Ground
Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Oliver Glasner as their head coach, with the Austrian becoming the club’s fifth managerial change within a single year. Glasner, who most recently managed Crystal Palace, arrives as a direct replacement for Vitor Pereira, who was relieved of his duties on Tuesday following a clause activation in his contract. Forest informed Pereira of their decision to part ways just two minutes before the clause’s June expiration.

Glasner’s Career Path and Recent Successes
Forest established contact with the 51-year-old Glasner earlier this summer. He departed Crystal Palace at the end of last season, having led them through an impressive campaign. Under his stewardship, Palace secured the Europa Conference League title, lifted the FA Cup in 2025, and triumphed in the Community Shield in August after a penalty shootout win against Liverpool.
Glasner had previously managed LASK, Wolfsburg, and Eintracht Frankfurt – steering Eintracht Frankfurt to Europa League victory in 2022 – before taking charge at Crystal Palace in 2024. In January, Glasner revealed his intention to seek a fresh challenge at the end of the season, despite Palace offering a contract extension.
Forest’s Rotating Dugout and Pereira’s Record
The managerial instability at Forest began with Nuno Espirito Santo at the start of the previous campaign. Since September, Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche, and Vitor Pereira have each had a stint in the hot seat. Pereira, who replaced Dyche in February, led Forest to a 16th-place finish in the Premier League, ending five points clear of the relegation zone. He also guided the team to the semi-finals of the Europa League, where they were ultimately eliminated by Aston Villa, who went on to lift the trophy.
